Board of Assessment Review – Member Vacancy

The Town of Volney is currently seeking a resident to serve on the Board of Assessment Review (BAR).

The Board of Assessment Review plays an important role in the property assessment process by hearing and reviewing complaints from property owners who believe their assessments are inaccurate. The Board has the authority to make determinations and adjustments where appropriate.

Position Requirements:

• Must be a resident of the Town of Volney
• Ability to attend Grievance Day (held annually on the fourth Tuesday in May)
• Willingness to complete required training conducted through Oswego County (May 5^th)

Duties Include:

• Reviewing assessment complaints filed by property owners
• Conducting hearings in a fair and impartial manner
• Deliberating and making decisions based on evidence presented
